Angie

Age 15, South LA

I’m passionate about changing my community and helping those who feel like they don’t have a voice. My dream is to be able to make a change in South LA so youth can be happy and not scared of anything. I want to see less police brutality, less gang violence, and I want to fight for my undocumented classmates.

If all the youth in my community had people who believed in them, we would be united.

My community is against police, but I want to join the FBI to change the system from inside, and I wish my community would support me. But a lot of people tell me I won’t make it because I’m a person of color. I want more support from the people of color around me and to be inspired by them. I’m tired of my friends telling me that they’re not going to make it out.

We’re a community, and we need to defend each other.
